Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how our affirmation mobile application (the “App”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the App. By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
We designed the App to allow you to use it anonymously if you wish. You have the option to sign up with an email and name for an enhanced experience, but this is not required. We strive to be transparent about our data practices so you can feel confident using our App.
Information We Collect
- Personal Information (Name and Email – Optional): If you choose to create an account by signing up, we collect your name and email address. This allows you to personalize your experience and back up any saved data. If you use the App without signing up (incognito mode), we do not collect any information that identifies you personally.
- Location Data (Optional): With your permission, the App can access your device’s location to provide weather-based affirmations (matching the affirmations to your local weather and mood). This location access is optional and used only to fetch weather information for your area. We do not store your precise location on our servers. Location data is used on-the-fly within the App to deliver the weather-related feature and is not retained. You can choose not to grant location permission (or revoke it later), and the App will still function normally (just without the weather-based content).
- Local Date and Time: The App may use your device’s current date and time to tailor content (for example, providing morning or evening affirmations). This information is processed locally on your device and is not transmitted to us or stored on our servers.
- Usage and Diagnostics Information: We automatically collect certain technical data to help us improve the App and fix issues. This includes information such as the features and screens you use, the actions you take within the App, and diagnostic details like crash reports. While this data may include device identifiers (e.g. a device ID or an anonymous user ID), device type, operating system version, and App version, it does not include your name, email, or any content of your affirmations. We collect this information through third-party analytics and crash reporting services (described in the Third-Party Services section below). This usage data helps us understand how the App is being used and identify any problems, so we can make the App better for everyone.
We do not collect any information beyond what is described above. In particular, we do not collect sensitive personal details like your physical address, contacts, photos, or financial information.
How We Use Your Information
We use the collected information for the following purposes:
- To Provide and Personalize the Service: We use your information to operate the App’s core features and personalize your experience. For example, if you sign up, we use your name and email to create and maintain your account (allowing you to back up data or sync across devices). If you allow location access, we use your location on your device to deliver relevant weather-based affirmations tailored to your area. We also use your device’s date/time to show timely messages (such as morning vs. evening affirmations). These uses enable the App’s functionality and make the experience more relevant to you.
- To Improve and Maintain the App: We analyze usage data and crash reports to understand app performance and user engagement. This helps us identify bugs, improve stability, and decide on new features. For instance, crash diagnostics from Firebase Crashlytics help us find and fix technical issues quickly, and aggregate analytics from Amplitude show which features are most popular or useful. All of this is to make the App more reliable and enjoyable. (For example, if crash reports show a feature is causing errors on certain phones, we investigate and fix it. If analytics show a particular affirmation or feature is frequently used, we might expand on it.) All analytics and crash data are used in aggregate or anonymous form – we look at trends and overall numbers, not at individual users.
- To Communicate with You: If you sign up with an email address, we may use it to send you important account-related or service-related communications. For example, we might send a verification email when you register, a password reset email if you request one, or notify you about important updates to the App or this Privacy Policy. We will not send you promotional or marketing emails unless you specifically opt-in to receive them. (We value your inbox and will only contact you when necessary or when you have given permission.)
- To Ensure Security and Prevent Misuse: We may use information (like certain usage patterns or diagnostic signals) to help monitor for fraudulent, abusive, or unauthorized activity. This assists us in keeping the App secure and fair for all users. For example, if we detected some misuse that could harm the user experience or violate our terms, we might investigate using the logged data. This kind of use is limited and aimed at protecting the integrity of the App and its users.
We do not use your personal information for any purposes other than those described above. In particular, we do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.
Third-Party Services and Links
To provide the App’s functionality and improve it, we rely on a few trusted third-party services. These third parties process information on our behalf, only to the extent needed for their role, and each has its own privacy safeguards. Below are the third-party services we use, what they’re for, and links to their privacy policies:
- Firebase Authentication & Cloud Firestore (by Google LLC): We use Google Firebase for user account management and cloud data storage. If you create an account, Firebase Authentication handles your login credentials securely (your password is encrypted and not visible to us), and Cloud Firestore stores your app data (such as your name, email, and any saved preferences or content) in a cloud database. All data stored in Firebase is protected by Google’s security infrastructure. (For more details, see Google’s Privacy Policy: Google Privacy Policy.)
- Firebase Crashlytics (by Google LLC): Crashlytics helps us monitor and fix app crashes or errors. When the App encounters a crash or serious error, Crashlytics automatically collects a crash report. This report includes technical details like the device model, operating system version, the App version, and information about what led to the crash (such as code error logs). Importantly, crash reports do not include personal data like your name, email, or specific content you were viewing — they are solely for diagnosing technical issues. We use these reports to pinpoint and resolve bugs to improve the App’s stability. Crash data is transmitted to Google Firebase’s servers and protected under Google’s robust security measures and privacy policy.
